The Elmwood Village Inn: Honu House is a bed and
breakfast at the corner of St. James Place and
Elmwood Avenue.  The B & B is centrally located on
upper west side of Buffalo, New York, in the Elmwood
Village (recently rated one of the 10 best
neighborhoods in the US).

All possible urban desires are within easy walking
distance.  A step to the right could mean a visit to our
locally owned book store with adjoining café; a stop at
a shop along the way; a meal at your choice of a burger
joint, a Greek diner, or a Thai restaurant to name a few
of your choices.  Another half mile down the street and
one arrives at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery across the
street from Buffalo State College.  More options
prevail when embarking to the left: diverse local
eateries and fine dining experiences, a couple
neighborhood bars provide live music and dance, there
are also numerous clothing, household and fine crafts
boutiques.  All of this is surrounded by a varied sampling
of the 19th & 20th century
architecture that Buffalo is
famous for.

203 Saint James Place was built in 1891.  Its’ light and
spaciousness are what entranced me the moment I
entered the house.  An open and inviting gathering space
for guests at the Inn now draws in those who enter.
The décor is “elegant eclectic:” antiques co-mingle with
contemporary styles for sophistication without
diminishing comfort.

Personalized service is paramount to the vision for
Honu House.  A kitchenette on the second floor is
always available for your use.  I will be happy to direct
you to one of the many dining establishments in the
neighborhood for any meal.  This is primarily "a bed"
without a typical elaborate B & B "breakfast."
Breakfast is served continental style: coffee, tea, &
a small selection of pastries.

A primary impetus for creating the Elmwood Village
Inn was to create opportunities to share my love and
knowledge of the area with my guests.  I have hosted
poetry readings, small business meetings & special
celebratory events, a special family celebration of
reunification, wedding party accommodations, & fund-
raising events.  My guests have come from all over the
world, and as close by as next door.  My house provided
sanctuary for some Buffalo-area residents who lost
power during the October Storm & has often served as a
retreat for parents, lucky enough to get a romantic (&
restorative) weekend away from the kids.
Whatever your interests are, I can make connections
for you.
