The Elmwood Village Inn: Honu House is a bed and breakfast at the corner of St. James Place and Elmwood Ave centrally located
on Buffalo, New York’s upper west side. All possible urban desires are within easy walking distance. A step to the right could
mean a visit to our locally owned book store with adjoining café; a stop at a shop along the way; a meal at your choice of a burger
joint, a Greek diner, or a Thai restaurant to name a few of your choices. Another half mile down the street and one arrives at the
Albright-Knox Art Gallery across the street from Buffalo State College. More options prevail when embarking to the left: diverse
local eateries and fine dining experiences, a couple neighborhood bars providing live music and dance, clothing, household and fine
crafts boutiques. All this surrounded by a varied sampling of early 19th & late 20th century architectural styles.
Personalized service is paramount to the vision for Honu House. A kitchenette on the second floor is always available for your use. I will be happy to direct you to one of the many dining establishments in the neighborhood for your morning meal. This is primarily ”a bed” without the “. . .and breakfast.” However, meals at the Inn can be commissioned in advance.

203 Saint James Place was built in 1891.
Its’ light and spaciousness are what
entranced me the moment I entered the
house. An open and inviting gathering
space for guests at the Inn now draws in
those who enter. This space will
eventually evolve into an area for small
groups to join each other in listening to
music, discussion or private movie
screenings. The décor is “elegant eclectic:”
antiques co-mingle with a contemporary
artistic display that begets sophistication
without diminishing comfort.
A primary impetus for creating the Elmwood Village Inn is to provide an opportunity to share my love and knowledge of the area. Poetry readings, theatres providing art films, local productions and art openings are just a few of the possibilities. Whatever your interests are, I can make connections for you.
