The Elmwood Village Inn: Honu House

The Elmwood Village Inn stands at the corner of St. James Place and Elmwood Avenue, in the vibrant Elmwood Village neighborhood.

The inn offers four suites or rooms, each with its own bath and its own character: the Master Suite, the Middle Western Room, the Middle Eastern Room, and the Skylight Suite. Click here to contact us, or call 1.716.886.2397 for reservations or further information.

Welcome to the Inn

The Inn is a bed & breakfast where the emphasis is on providing a comfortable home away from home. There is no elaborate B&B breakfast. A selection of tempting delicacies—such as freshly baked breads or pastries and seasonal fruit—as well as orange juice, coffee, and tea are informally provided in the Salon each morning (at your leisure).

A well-equipped kitchenette on the second floor is always available for your use. You can also get more substantial breakfasts at wonderful nearby restaurants along Elmwood Avenue. If you would like recommendations about local restaurants and activities, please ask me: my aim is to be helpful without being intrusive.

Elmwood Village was rated one of the ten top neighborhoods in America in 2007. From the Inn, fantastic dining, galleries, locally owned shops, and all the delights of gracious city living are available within easy walking distance.

The new Burchfield Penney Art Center and the nationally acclaimed Albright-Knox Art Gallery are a ten-minute walk from the Inn. Behind them stretch the green space and waterways of Frederick Law Olmsted’s grand Delaware Park.

It has been so reaffirming to see Buffalo finally begin to receive the national attention it deserves! For example:

  • The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Buffalo one of a Dozen Distinctive Destinations in 2009;
  • The New York Times included Buffalo in “The 44 Places to Go” in the world in 2009;
  • Garden Walk Buffalo has become the largest event of its type in North America;
  • Buffalo’s theater/arts community holds the top rating for cities its size in the United States.

It is my wish that you join Buffalo's many new fans!

Warmly,

Karen Williams Powell, Innkeeper
